I started working on this cool little project this week. It was actually conceptualized quite some time ago – but there’s no time like the present for getting things done!
Coolhandz is a nifty little animated Youtube project I am developing with my son Christian and has some ol’ school animation techniques blended with some pretty cool technology. Was funny how it came to be… just playing with a pair of shades and somehow started to envision characters… the fun part was building the character around the glasses. Not sure how long it will be before we debut this but was excited to share!
Well we’re back on the rails… I’ve been setting up a new studio in my place for guests that want to come in and I’m adding some video to that so that will add another element to musical guests… also taking things on the road and geared up for mobile recording as well.
Things have been busy and while it meant I wasn’t recording any new shows, it has given me much more to talk about and expanded the types of guests that I will host. As some of you might know, I have been developing a couple of documentary projects… one on seniors called Don’t Forget Me When I’m Gone and another on adoption entitled Love Me Not… both share similar themes and I will have guests along the way that reflect those films…
I’m also relaunching my Rock The Violence campaign and we will be touching on that as well.
Thanks for dropping by and look for new shows starting next week.
Cool little testimonial/post Al Runt posted on Facebook re our show. Was really great to kick things off again with Al and so many great new shows coming together. We have a tremendous surplus of talent in this country and I hope I can do my part to help introduce them to you.
Stay tuned! Hmmmm I need a better sign off….
Once upon a time I created a magazine geared toward families with the theme of health and wellness. The ‘fit’ in Fit Parent spoke both to fitness and also to the capability factor in parenting. I’m thinking of a relaunch… but for the time being.. have a look at the last issue we published.

Ok folks, we’re kicking things off with some more podcasts starting January 5th, 2015! Wow, I cant believe it’s 2015 already… I remember sitting behind the high school with some buddies talking about how OLD were were going to be when the millennium hit – never mind 2015!
This is going to be a great year for the podcast – our first official year. Both the previous Mendelson Joe and Rude van Steenes shows continue to get lots of downloads and I want to thank everyone for listening.
There’s a ton of fascinating Canadians and I hope to introduce you to many – and the fun part is – I’m learning about so many I had no concept of… so it’s a win-win as far as I am concerned.
Let’s rock this joint!
Troy Hurtubise is a Maverick for sure. He’s also a friend. I met Troy about 15 years ago when I was still publishing Razor magazine. I was intrigued by this crazy outdoors man / inventor I had seen in the National Film Board documentary, Project Grizzly. But Troy proved to be much more than just some guy in a Robocop style suit chasing bears in northern Alberta. He was more genius than goofball and certainly more passionate about so many different projects that were all designed to better Canada and the planet.
I’ve lost touch with Troy but I am endeavoring to track him down and get him on the show – it will be well worth the effort.
I’m not a big fan of Bob Lefsetz – I do read his posts now and again and I am a subscriber to his newsletter so I get them.. all of them. Many times I agree with Bob, many times I don’t… but it was refreshing to get his latest newsletter and a piece that extolls the virtues of Sarah Polley’s film Stories We Tell which is currently available on Netflix.
Sarah is one of our great talents and I personally have enjoyed watching her grow from a young waif to mature filmmaker and create truisms that are sometimes painful to watch.
Bob has a very large mailing list and I hope that his readers tune in… you can read his post here.
I thought I’d kick things off by saying thank you for dropping by. I’m currently prepping the show and gathering gear and hope to launch in the coming weeks. Next week I will showcase the start-up gear for anyone interested… not going to be doing in-studio interviews right now but rather going out on-location. I’m putting together a mobile podcast rig that I can take out to interviews so I can capture some cool photos of the locale to let you in on how things unfolded.
So stay tuned… I think this is going to be fun!
